As a fashion journalist, I look forward to finding the best pieces of clothing. Some of them turned out to be more like collectibles that I rarely touched, but still brought me joy, while others became part of my personality (yes, I’m a big fan of clothes). When I find something I really like, I buy it in multiple colors. Case in point: After months of searching for the best jumpsuit, I fell in love with the Pistola Grover Short Sleeve Field Jacket ($168) and now have several pairs in different colors (including the cropped version). I love how these jumpsuits fit and how easy they are to style, so I found another piece of clothing I can’t live without right now: Amazon Essentials Women’s Classic Fit Crew Neck Long Sleeves ($16, available in six colors ). to choose from).
Last fall, I pictured myself in my favorite dark green, ivy-colored, long-sleeved, black-and-white-striped Grover field suit. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money because it’s technically an undershirt and my LA wardrobe doesn’t need many cold weather essentials thanks to year round sunshine. So I went to Amazon to find a quality long sleeve basic in a classic black and white striped print. It didn’t take long for me to discover the Amazon Essentials Women’s Classic Fit Crew Neck Long Sleeve, which costs less than $20 and has 4.4 stars from over 20,000 customers. I got curious and hit the “try before you buy” button.
Immediately after receiving the womens Long Sleeve T Shirts, I was drawn to the striped print, exactly what I had imagined. The stripes are the perfect thickness, not too thin to look like thin stripes, but not too thick either, which gives them a timeless feel and a look that I know will remain contemporary despite changing trends.
Next is the fabric. I am truly amazed at the quality of the fabric, especially considering the $16 price tag. The material is 56% cotton, 37% modal and 7% elastane. It is soft to the touch and very elastic, fitting the body like a glove. It is also not too thin, so it is not transparent at all, which is not always the case with such cheap tops.
After wearing it under my work clothes – and several other looks – almost every day for a week (I promise I washed it!), I realized I needed more than one in my wardrobe. Luckily, the long sleeves come in 28 different colors, including basics like black, white, and gray, as well as fun splashes of red, hot blue, and pink. I chose five new shades and wore them over a cardigan, a denim jacket, a chunky skew-knit sweater (for extra warmth during a trip to Canada in the middle of winter), and alone with my mom’s high-waisted jeans, and I’ve been wearing Vans gingham moccasins ever since.
